SPORTS & FITNESS
Engaging in sports activities each week helps improve students’ focus on school work, as well as help them lead happier, healthier lives. Fitness Habits – Sports help students develop coordination and teaches them how to care for their bodies through proper stretching and the development of fundamental mechanics. Physical fitness is just as important for children as learning the letters and numbers.

SOCCER
Helps kids stay fit and healthy: Playing soccer is great exercise that improves cardiovascular health, increases coordination, improves strength and enhances flexibility.

Involves teamwork: Soccer players have to work together as a team in order be successful. Teamwork is a skill needed to be successful in school, work and family! Improves gross motor skills: This is especially important for kids that are weak in this area. It helps strengthen core muscles which allows kids be more physically active thus more healthy!

Boosts self-confidence and self-esteem: Playing a sport, such as soccer, helps kids gain confidence in themselves. They become more comfortable learning new things and performing in front of a crowd. Of course scoring a goal helps too!

MARTIAL ARTS

At Gateway more concentration is emphasized in the physical health and fitness of the children. Hence Martial Arts like Kung Fu and Karate are also taught to the children. Martial arts are also known to benefit people by increasing focus and building discipline. Martial art teaches self-defense and much more. There are so many benefits that children can pick up from martial arts. Self-defense not only allows children to tangibly defend themselves against physical attacks, it also sparks various benefits to them in everyday life. The children have participated in various level competitions and brought laurels to our school.

CHESS

We have chess classes as an integral part of the curriculum. Chess is a competitive activity, but good sportsmanship and fair play are taught as essential elements of the game. It helps with the development of problem-solving skills, planning, patience, focus of thought and self-discipline. The educational benefits of being a chess player are many and include honing analytical thinking skills and aiding memory retention. It’s a great confidence builder and teaches patience and persistence. We have handful of Chess champions in our school who have bagged several awards and recognitions.

TENNIS

Playing tennis regularly strengthens the bones of young players and has been proven to help prevent osteoporosis later on in life. We have a wonderful Tennis court at Gateway where many active children have participated and brought laurels to our school.

We also have a state level player Master Trishanth of Grade – VII who is positioned in the 60th place in State.

 

GATEWAY TENNIS TOURNAMENT

“Life is like a game of Tennis; The player who serves well seldom loses”

Gateway Group of Schools – Gateway Tennis Academy conducted the 2nd Inter School Open Tennis Tournament – 2018 from 28th to 30th July, 2018. It was a Non Ranking Tennis Tournament conducted for both boys and girls under the Age category of 12 and 14 years.

Invitation was given to various schools, academies and clubs to participate in our 2nd Interschool Gateway Tennis Tournament and the children actively registered their names. About 55 children enrolled their names for the tournament.
